Introducing the Spooky Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Dusk to Dawn
Louis Erard has joined hands with master watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin yet again to produce a darker iteration of his renowned Wristmons (wrist monsters), a unique, saw-mouthed cyclops version, inspired by the Slavic Likho legend. Named the Time Eater II – From Dusk to Dawn, it has two variations available in limited editions (178 pieces each) in a diptych box (box limited to 28 pieces) or in a quadriptych box (with the first two versions, limited to 8 pieces).
The first two versions that form a part of the quadriptych box were revealed earlier this year: it was the first Time Eater produced by Chaykin for Louis Erard using the Regulator model as a base for the one-eyed monster. Both the versions were so popular that collectors hunted it down like a trophy. Case in point: the set containing the first two versions was auctioned at Ineichen in Geneva during the Geneva Watch Days, fetching a price of 20,000 francs. It is also competing in the “Petite Aiguille” category of the upcoming GPHG 2023 awards.
For this new Time Eater, Chaykin — an outstanding practitioner and member of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) with 94 patents to his name — has re-awakened the Likho, the one-eyed creature from Slavic mythology, known to be the embodiment of evil fate and misfortune. The watch puts Likho at the centre, in a darker, more haunting avatar, and adds a unique horror element to its overall appeal.
The two variants are available in either a 42 mm polished steel case (Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Dusk to Dawn ref. 85237AA89) or a 39 mm sand-blasted steel case (Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Dusk to Dawn ref. 85248NN88) with black PVD treatment. The dials have a sunray wave pattern; while the dial background of the larger model is anthracite, the smaller edition’s is black. The monster’s revolving pupil indicates the hours on the subdial at noon, the subdial at 6 o’clock has a black star-shaped running seconds indicator, and the red squiggly hand indicates the minutes.
The models are powered by the automatic Sellita SW266-1 calibre that offers a power reserve of 38 hours. The black toad leather strap aligns with the unique aesthetics of the dial, the red attachment points and the red rabbit leather lining elevate its appeal. Both variants are priced at approximately CHF 4,000, excluding tax.
