Guccio Gucci, the son of an Italian trader, established the House of Gucci in Florence in 1921. Gucci entered the watch business in November 1997 by acquiring the watch manufacturer Severin Montres, which was renamed Gucci Timepieces. This move was taken to emphasise their position in the fashion sector, as well as empower a mindset focused primarily on superior quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
