Seiko Unveils Prospex India Limited Edition, a Timeless Tribute to Resilience and the Spirit of the Tiger

Calmness. An eerie hush precedes the tiger’s reveal, a silence that both photographers and watchmakers instinctively understand. Seiko, the Japanese House founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, has channelled that very serenity into its newest creation: the Prospex India Limited Edition. Launched this month as the third chapter in its nature‑inspired series, the timepiece pays homage to the tiger’s courage, strength, and commanding presence.

Pieces countable to 1,000, the watch translates the tiger's textured pelt into dial artistry, its warm and earthen hues rendered with a tactile finish that seems to breathe with feline menace. The Prospex silhouette, ever robust, arrives fitted with an additional black silicone strap for versatility beyond ceremony, while beneath its case beats Seiko's dependable 4R calibre, yielding a 41-hour power reserve. The first 300 collectors will receive a bespoke box adorned with a gold-foil tiger in mid-leap, a keepsake befitting the occasion.

The launch, hosted at the Seiko Boutique in Marks Square, Bengaluru, recently, drew its emotional core from a collaboration with Aarzoo Khurana, the wildlife photographer whose singular achievement ― becoming the first person and first woman to document all 58 of India's tiger reserves ― lends the project both authenticity and quiet audacity. Her images, born of patience in unforgiving terrain, possess a rare intimacy that transforms fleeting encounters into permanent testimony, and it is this sensibility that animates the brand film accompanying the collection.

Beyond aesthetics, the initiative carries conservation weight. In partnership with WWF-India, Seiko is funding AI and GSM-enabled cameras alongside solar-powered streetlights across the Sundarbans, easing friction between local communities and tiger habitats.

Niladri Mazumder, President and COO of Seiko Watch India Pvt. Ltd., described the piece as one that "captures the essence of strength, resilience and courage", while affirming the company's commitment to safer coexistence between people and wildlife in the region.
