The Perfect Match: Inside the GMT India x Reservoir Collectors’ Soiree in Mumbai
Cricket is a sport that brings people together. Such was the case at GMT India’s first Collectors’ Soiree at St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai. The event was organised by GMT India in association with The Watch Lab, and Rose: The Watch Bar; it was co-hosted by collector extraordinaire Mohit Chuganee. Bringing together more than 60 avid watch collectors, the event was a pitch-perfect medley of cricket and timepieces.
The newly launched Reservoir X Popeye Cricket watch from French watchmaker Reservoir was the cynosure of all eyes as the event allowed collectors to check out the cricket-themed timepiece that featured the beloved fictional cartoon character, Popeye, on its dial, along with the brand’s other iterations — indeed the charming watch brought smiles to their lips as they tried it on. The watches on display definitely stole the spotlight with their interesting dials as well as technical finesse. The attendees also interacted with brand representatives, including Benjamin Boursault, Sales Director (EMEA) at Reservoir Watches, and representative from The Watch Lab.
With the sparkling city skyline serving as the backdrop, the event took place at a plush rooftop restaurant and lounge, Asilo, at the ultra-luxe St. Regis Hotel, located in the heart of Mumbai. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was the screening of the World Cup match between India and England. Guests enjoyed exciting arcade games as well. The latest issues of GMT India were also on display for the guests. With scrumptious food and cocktails on offer, the ambience was lively and playful, much like the Reservoir X Popeye Cricket watch.
As the evening drew to a close, Vritti Jadwani Jain, Editor-in-Chief, GMT India, and Mohit Chuganee addressed the guests, thanking them for attending the magazine’s first event in Mumbai. For watch lovers, the event was certainly a memorable one.
