Ulysse Nardin Releases Three New UFO Final Edition Table Clocks

To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the brand in 2021, Ulysse Nardin decided to reimagine the classic marine chronometer and created the UFO table clock with a power reserve of a full year. For this year, the timepiece maker has introduced three new final versions of the UFO collection, each limited to only 30 pieces. With these new models, it can be said that Ulysse Nardin has not only gone beyond the traditional concepts of watchmaking, but has also managed to stay ahead of its competitors.

The new Ulysse Nardin UFO table clocks come in three colours, dedicated to its retail partners — green for Yoshida in Japan, ice blue for Bucherer, and champagne for The Hour Glass in South-East Asia. It is to be noted here that the original model, which was limited to 72 pieces, was dark blue in colour. Each of the new Ulysse Nardin UFO table clocks measures 159 mm in diameter and 263 mm in height, and weighs 7.2 kilograms. The latest collection also gets an elongated construction with a coloured round base, featuring a tungsten weight inside.

Fitted on top of the bases are large glass domes that cover all the internal components. The three UFO clocks come with three time zones with hours, minutes, and a deadbeat seconds. These can be set to a different time zone or all three can show the same time. At the top of the tower lies a spinning balance wheel. The balance wheel beats very slowly at 0.5 Hz and takes two seconds to complete one full oscillation. The deadbeat seconds hand is connected to a regulation system. 

The new Ulysse Nardin UFO table clocks are powered by manually wound Caliber UN-902 table clock movement; here the winding and setting of time can be executed through a key. The year-long power reserve of the models is possible mainly because of its six mainspring barrels. The power reserve indicator lies below the dial horizontally.
