Tissot's PRX 25mm Line Gets Five New Variants, Continuing the Legacy of the 1978 PRX Model
The original PRX model made its debut in 1978 and it was revived with a refined size in 2021. The PRX's sleek design, durable mechanical movement, and, above all, relatively low sticker price made it one of the best-selling watches not only for Tissot but for the entire industry as well. To be sure, Tissot's PRX series strikes a balance between style, mechanics, and price. It has all the right elements, including a shaped case, a textured dial, and an integrated band. Now though, Tissot ups the ante once more and goes a bit retro with its latest PRX collection in 25 mm, decked out in stainless steel and PVD carnation gold.
Continuing the legacy of the original 1978 design aethetics, the new Tissot PRX 25 mm collection, comprising five variants, also stands out because of its minimalism, which has emerged as a distinguishing approach to watch design, emphasising simplicity, elegance, and functionality. The goal is to create timepieces that are ageless and flexible with the help of excellent materials, clean lines, and subtle design aesthetics. Minimalist watches typically have plain displays with few markings, slender casings, and polished straps. The simple style is also a reaction to overly intricate or ‘loud’ watches, particularly in an era when functionality is increasingly going digital.
The new PRX 25mm collection’s tonneau tapered case brings its own unique character to the table. Three novelties in the line feature sunburst dials in ice blue, black, and nude, with the black and nude options getting diamond hour markers. The model with the nude dial extends its allure with a matching PVD carnation gold case, polished bezel, and bracelet. Two other models offer mother-of-pearl dials, one framed by a stainless-steel bezel and the other with a rose gold PVD bezel. Together, these five timepieces are a celebration of personal style, tailored for women who embrace individuality.
All stainless steel cased models come with a steel crown at 3 o’clock; the nude variant gets a rose gold crown at 3 o’clock. The collection is powered by a quartz movement with an End of Life (EOL) function. The closed casebacks are made of sapphire crystal. Four of the five models are finished on integrated stainless steel bracelets; the nude dial variant gets a PVD carnation gold bracelet.
