Tissot Launches 3 New Watches as Part of its Chemin des Tourelles Skeleton Series

Skeleton dials hold a special place in horology, blending aesthetics and craftsmanship with functionality. Such see-through watch faces help enthusiasts appreciate the detailed work of watchmakers. The design and execution of a skeleton watch involves both engineering and artistic creativity.

 Among the master creators of skeleton dials is Tissot. The revised Chemin des Tourelles is the concept of a classic, exquisite timepiece with an impressive skeleton dial. Reasonably priced, the model has been subtly overhauled and mechanically enhanced with thePowermatic 80 movement. To be precise, the Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Skeleton collection has now been expanded to include two novelties housed in stainless steel cases : one with a blue dial (Ref. T139.836.11.048.00), another with an ivory-coloured sunray dial (Ref. T139.836.16.261.00), while the third one is a black PVD case variant (Ref. T139.836.36.441.00). 

 Tissot chose to return to the fundamentals last year by subtly reinterpreting one of its classics, the Chemin des Tourelles series. The Powermatic 80 movement was introduced to all references — including the 42 mm,39 mm, and 34 mm options — along with the unveiling of a redesigned case and updated dial patterns and colours; all of these were subtle changes aimed at keeping the collecton relevant.

Tissot’s Chemin des TourellesSkeleton 2024 collection now comes in mid-sized cases, each with a 39 mm diameter, which can be regarded as the ideal size in this series, ensuring a pleasant balance between modernism and comfort. The case, which is 11.2 mm thick, has the same design as that of last year's version, except with more curves on the sides and the bezel, and shorter and slimmer lugs. The references get the lugs and the crowns in the same material as the cases. The display of the Chemin des Tourelles Skeleton has been simplified by removing the date. 

 The first reference is a collection staple, with a blue dial, Clous de Paris design, and attached Roman numerals for 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock. The next model is an ivory-coloured one with a nicely produced, domed, and brushed dial, including gold-coloured hands and baton markers. The final reference has a stainless steel black PVD-coated casing, a gunmetal dial, and grey markings and hands. All three references have dauphine hands and a minute track. 

Under the hood of each is SwatchGroup’s go-to movement, Calibre Powermatic 80. An evolution of the ETA calibreC07.631 architecture, this automatic movement offers a solid 80-hour power reserve and is equipped with an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring. The see-through caseback reveals the other side of the movement, with its rather industrial finishing. Each watch is finished on a five-link brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet or on a patina khaki leather or black leather strap.
