This Summer, Live it Up with the New Big Bang Unico Sky Blue Watch from Hublot

These days, watchmakers refuse to shy away from experimenting with bold colours to make their timepieces stand out from the rest. Traditionally, white and black dominated the spectrum, but this is no longer the case — luxury watch brands’ passion for colours seems to be only getting stronger with the course of time. Take Hublot and its coloured ceramic cases. Continuing its love-affair with colours, the brand has just revealed the new Big Bang Unico Sky Blue (Ref. 441.EX.5120.RX) watch, limited to only 200 pieces. 

At this year’s Watches and Wonders too, Hublot released a host of colourful novelties, including new variations to its signature Big Bang collection. These ranged from the new Integrated Blue Sapphire to the Unico High Jewellery King Gold Rainbow to the Unico Golf Sky Blue. The latest Big Bang Unico Sky Blue watch gets a monochromatic look with a polished, ceramic, satin-finished, 42 mm case, a bezel and a caseback with six screws sporting integrated lugs. 

With a thickness of 14.5 mm, the chronograph bears all the signature elements of a Big Bang Unico, including both side-protective bumpers with two screws each. The limited-edition timepiece comes with a steel crown at 3 o’clock and two steel chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock to start and restart the function.

The Big Bang Unico Sky Blue watch also comes with a blue 60-minute track on the outer periphery and an openworked dial in light blue-and-white colour scheme. What’s more, the dial offers a full view of the mechanical movement and the column wheel at 6 o’clock. There is a seconds counter at 9 o’clock while a blue 60-minute counter with an in-built date window can be seen at 3 o’clock. Lying above the movement are the Arabic hour markers for 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o’clock, with hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova. The central chronograph seconds has the Hublot logo and an oblong tip.

Powering the new Hublot Big Bang watch is the in-house, self-winding Calibre HUB1280 Unico movement with 72 hours of power reserve. Turning the watch over showcases the skeleton caseback with a stainless steel oscillating weight and the engraving of ‘Limited Edition’, ‘Big Bang’, and the individual watch number out of 200.

The watch comes with two straps featuring the brand’s One-Click interchangeable system: the first is a light blue-and-white,lined rubber strap and the other is crafted in white calfskin leather with a Velcro® fastener and a light blue ceramic buckle.
