The Second Edition of the OMEGA Trophy Golf Tournament Held in Gurugram

The association between golf and watches often revolves around the shared values of precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Both golf and watchmaking require patience and  commitment to excellence. While golfers appreciate the rich history of the sport, watch enthusiasts value the heritage and timeless designs of certain watch brands. Owning a prestigious watch or being associated with golf, a sport often associated with luxury, can convey a sense of success and sophistication as well. 

Several watch brands are known for their partnerships with golf tournaments and events or professional golfers. OMEGA is one of them. The Swiss watch brand recently hosted the second edition of the OMEGA Trophy golf tournament at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurugram, bringing together the mesmerising worlds of golf and horology. Celebrating OMEGA’s passion for golf and watches, the 18-hole tournament attracted seasoned golfers as well as true-blue watch enthusiasts, including acclaimed Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan.

At the event, the brand showcased its latest collection of watches, called the Seamaster Summer Blue collection. It’s an ode to our oceans. Each timepiece has a single tone of blue that represents a defining aspect of an ocean and its varying water resistance depths.

Fredric Nardin, Vice President, Sales, OMEGA SA, said, “We are thrilled to host the second edition of the OMEGA Trophy in India. India is a significant market for us, particularly given the fact that its consumers have a keen sense of quality and heritage.” On golf, he said, “It is a game that strongly resonates with OMEGA and is a part of our DNA. We are happy to be able to share our passion for the game with our customers from across the country.”

At the event, Abhishek Bachchan said, “This is a habit (of double wristing) I picked up from my mother. In the late 1980s and 1990s, when I was in a boarding school in Switzerland, you didn’t have these sophisticated watches. My mother used to wear two watches: one with Swiss time and another with Indian time.” The actor was seen wearing an Omega Worldtimer and Seamaster 300 with a NATO strap.

Golfers Prathmesh Mishra and Mik Young Jung won the awards in Men’s and Women’s categories respectively. Both took home the coveted OMEGA Trophy. All in all, it was an affair to remember.
