The Latest Jaipur Watch Company Novelties Feature Genuine One Pice Coins

History-themed watches are fascinating pieces that blend horology with significant historical events and cultural heritage. These watches can be broadly categorised as those commemorating specific events or periods or those that are inspired by historical artefacts or those created by brands with a long heritage. These watches not only serve as timekeeping devices but also as storytellers, connecting wearers to significant moments in history and culture.

India’s homegrown timepiece maker Jaipur Watch Company has added to its Eternal Watch Collection two novelties that are steeped in history. These references feature genuine One Pice coins, the first coins minted in independent India on January 26, 1950. The year 1950 was a significant one for India, marking several pivotal events in the country's history. The Constitution replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India, and Dr Rajendra Prasad became the first President of India. That year, India issued a series of coins as part of its new currency system following Independence in 1947. One of these was the One Pice coin that depicted a galloping horse.

Needless to say, the One Pice coin holds historical and cultural significance for India, even though it is no longer in circulation. A galloping horse is often associated with energy, speed, and progress. In the context of India, a galloping horse can symbolise the nation's rapid development and dynamic spirit. Many businesses in India use this symbol to represent qualities like strength, reliability, and rapid progress, essential traits for startups and established enterprises alike.

Now coming to the collection, the Eternal Watch novelties feature  40 mm stainless steel cases with horned lugs and polished bezels. The central portion of each blue or white mother-of-pearl dial holds the One Pice coin. There are 10 arrowed hour markers, while “Jaipur Watch Company" is engraved at 6 o’clock and the logo rests at 12 o’clock.

Run by the Seiko NH35A Automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve, the watch showcases the sapphire crystal caseback with the blue oscillating weight engraved with “Jaipur Watch Company”. Completing the watch is a black leather strap. Limited to only 300 units each, the novelties from the Indian luxury watchmaker are destined to become prized possessions for watch aficionados.
