The Latest Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso One Watches Are Stunning High Jewellery Pieces
Since its debut in 1931, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso has been a watchmaking sensation — the timepiece is a veritable design icon. Even though it was originally created for polo players, the distinctive Art Deco lines of the watch have appealed to people from all walks of life. Over the years, the watchmaker has introduced more feminine models of the Reverso, subtly revisiting the original aesthetic codes: the rectilinear geometry of the reversible case with its bevelled triangular lugs, horizontal gadroons, and the chic simplicity of the dial.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has now unveiled two new iterations of its Reverso One, combining fine watchmaking with high jewellery, in keeping with the pioneering spirit of La Grande Maison. The latest versions of the Reverso One Duetto Jewellery shine bright in pink gold cases and are accentuated by diamonds, bearing testimony to the fine craftsmanship of the Métiers Rares workshop. The first model (Ref. Q336247J) is presented on a luxurious black leather strap while the other (Ref. Q3362370) sits on a pink gold bracelet, entirely set with diamonds.
Dialling it Up
Back in 1997, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Reverso Duetto that featured two back-to-back dials. Each dial had a set of hands driven by a single movement but turning in opposite directions in order to display the same time correctly on both sides – an intricate mechanism that marked a technical achievement for the Manufacture’s watchmakers. The new Reverso One Duetto Jewellery models are equipped with the handwound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 844, entirely developed and produced within the Manufacture, promising 50 hours of power reserve.
The latest Reverso One Duetto Jewellery watches also showcase the back-to-back dial concept in a new setting that is rare and precious. The caseback is entirely covered with 335 grain-set diamonds that wrap its curved sides to frame the dial, thereby making the case a quintessential piece of jewellery. This is also highlighted by the inverted diamond set into the crown.
On the front side, every detail of the silvered sunray dial is enhanced with guilloché decoration and delicate finishes. The timepiece also features all emblematic elements of the Reverso One models – the golden brackets in each corner, the applied Arabic hour numerals and hour markers, and the Dauphine hands.
On the other side, the reverse dial makes for a striking visual contrast. The dramatic and more mysterious dial is adorned with Art Deco-style gold hour markers. The glossy black lacquer is sprinkled with tiny gold flakes that seem to form clusters of light particles, echoing the brilliance of the diamonds that embellish the case.
Unparalleled Craftsmanship
The second model, Ref. Q3362370, marks another milestone for the Duetto concept with a diamond-set bracelet – this is the first time that the case, the bracelet attachment, and the bracelet links of a Reverso One have been fully gem-set. The high jewellery piece boasts a total of 719 diamonds, including at least 384 for the bracelet. The gem setters in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares workshop have used the grain-setting technique, anchoring the diamonds with tiny, almost invisible gold beads that lend the precious stones an exceptional sparkle. Displaying utmost mastery of the craft, the gem setters have set four diamonds together in perfect symmetry.
This new model is a testament to the watchmaking expertise and jewellery savoir-faire that La Grande Maison has cultivated with passion for several decades. The new Reverso One Duetto Jewellery watches will be available in India from October ― perfect festive offerings, we say.
