The Latest Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Chronometer Celebration Line-up Spells Elegance

Carl F. Bucherer, a luxury watchmaker from Lucerne, seems to be on a celebration spree. And why not? After all, the brand has been pursuing watchmaking excellence for the past 135 years, creating iconic timepieces in the process. After releasing its three minute repeaters last month, the watch manufacturer has now revealed new variations of its Heritage Chronometer in 18 ct rose gold (Refs. 00.10804.03.13.21 and 00.10804.03.93.21), with brown or silver dials and each limited to 88 pieces, and stainless steel (Refs. 00.10804.08.13.21 and 00.10804.08.33.21), with either black or silver dials and each restricted to 188 pieces.

Many watchmakers are now exploring the trend of reducing the sizes of their flagship collections to cater to a wider audience. Take the Tissot PRX, now available in 35 mm, scaling down from a chunkier 40 mm case. This year, the Heritage BiCompax Annual Black (Ref. 00.10803.12.33.01) was unveiled in a 41 mm case, replacing the bolder 43 mm case . 

As far as the latest Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Chronometer watches are concerned, the 39 mm models get bezels, fixed lugs, and crowns at 3 o’clock, matching the case material. Each watch has a white-background, black-numeral date window at 3 o’clock. The stainless steel model comes with a black-lacquered or a silver-galvanised dial with square-shaped, rhodium-plated, black lacquer hour markers, hour, minute hands with Super-LumiNova®, and a red arrow central seconds hand. The model is finished on a stainless steel mesh bracelet with a quick release system.

The 18 ct rose gold model comes with a silver-galvanised or a brown gradient lacquered dial. The gradient effect on the brown dial makes it appear darker on the outer periphery. The watch comes with gold-plated, square hour markers, gold-plated hour, minute hands, and a central second hand, with a red-tipped arrow, black lacquer, and Super-LumiNova®. Finishing the model is the 18 ct rose gold mesh bracelet with a quick release system.

Both variants are powered by the in-house Caliber CFB 1965.1, a chronometer-certified movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Turning each watch over showcases the embossed family crest, harking back to the 1960s — it features a swan, symbolising Carl F. Bucherer’s hometown of Lucerne; a beech tree, representing the Bucherer family; and the date of the manufacturer’s foundation in 1888. The caseback also includes four visible screws and the engraving of the individual watch number, either out of 88 or 188.
