The Hottest Jewellery Watches Unveiled in 2024 So Far

At Watches and Wonders (W&W) earlier this year, watch brands unveiled their exquisite novelties and among these were some of the most incredible jewellery timepieces. From bedazzling nature-inspired watches to versatile sautoir pieces, brands showcased their impeccable craftsmanship through bejewelled creations.

GMT India looks at the best jewellery watches launched in 2024 so far.

Cartier Animal Jewellery Watch

Cartier Animal Jewellery Watches

With the Cartier Animal Jewellery watches launched at W&W this year, the brand continues to draw inspiration from nature and the world of animals. In 1914, the panther's coat first appeared on a watch case. This year, the dreamy lineup had zebras and crocodiles elevating this entirely paved creation. Each stripe has been painstakingly lacquered by hand, lending it a graphic yet organic appearance. The crocodile models are detailed with the tension of each slick curve and each spiked scale, and the captivating bright emerald eye. The rich chromatics are a result of the graded enamel that adorns its case and dial, harmonised with the colour gradients of the sapphires and diamonds. There are three variations: a white gold model matched with a bracelet bedecked with tourmalines, sapphires, emeralds, brilliant-cut diamonds; a white gold model with a navy blue alligator strap; and a white gold model with an iridescent purple calfskin strap.

Chopard IMPERIALE

Chopard IMPERIALE

The latest IMPERIALE models perfectly combine the ancestral expertise Chopard proudly nurtures within its walls with mother-of-pearl and enamel that light up the aesthetic codes. This new 36 millimetre-diameter model is crafted in ethical 18-carat white gold, and has a diamond-set bezel, lug covers, cabochons and a crown. The collection’s signature design codes (dagger-type hands, lotus-flower crown, lugs shaped like ancient columns) are replicated on this creation. Its unique dial in splendid deep blue-green enamel sets the tone; it is rimmed by a raised white gold decorative fillet, forming graceful arabesques filled with white enamel. Padparadscha sapphires and pink mother-of-pearl flowers complete this delightful image. This watch is complemented by the IMPERIALE alligator leather strap.

Van Cleef & Arpels Lady Arpels Jour Nuit Watch

The Poetic Complications timepieces of Van Cleef & Arpels are driven by the complication modules that have been developed in-house by the Maison’s Watchmaking Workshops in Geneva over the past few years. Fusing technical expertise with artistry, the new timepiece features an automaton movement with on-demand animation or day/night display modules that capture the poetry in every moment. The timepiece is housed in a 38 mm white gold case adorned with diamonds. The dial is crafted in aventurine glass, mother-of-pearl, white gold, yellow gold, diamonds, and yellow sapphires – all presenting a poetic symphony on the wrist. The diamond-paved moon and stars seem to be perpetually pursuing the sun, embellished with snow-set yellow sapphires.

Redolent of the Maison’s storied legacy of jewellery and pendant watches, the Grand Lady Kalla makes a comeback and how! The piece – a testament to the meticulous savoir faire – is adorned with 57 faceted emerald-cut diamonds; diamonds, Akoya and onyx pearls also grace the pendant. The high jewellery timepiece is composed of 268 diamonds, totalling more than 46 carats. The versatile timepiece can be worn in four different ways – as a bracelet and necklace without the watch face, and as a wrist watch or a sautoir with the watch face.

Piaget Swinging Sautoir

Piaget Swinging Sautoir

At W&W this year, Piaget unveiled three new Swinging Sautoirs, two of which can be transformed to be worn on the wrist. The Swinging Sautoirs are presented in softly rounded trapeze cases, inspired by the shape of the cases of the original 1969 collection. A blend of blue and green graces a necklace of malachite and turquoise beads – a nod to the iconic 1970s era – radiating from the diamond-paved hand-twisted gold chain, sprinkled with yellow sapphires and brilliant-cut diamonds. The turquoise-dialled watch is suspended from a precious gemstone duo – a rare 29.24-carat yellow sapphire from Sri Lanka and a 6.11-carat aquamarine, elevating the Sautoir to a high jewellery necklace. At the same time, its watch component can be ingeniously and effortlessly unclasped to be worn on a green satin strap.
