The GPHG Academy Reveals Official Nominees for This Year’s Prizes

The official nominees for Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) 2023 have been announced. All 850 members of the Academy voted to nominate 90 timepieces (84 watches and 6 clocks) that are in the running to win one of the 20 prizes at the 23rd edition of the GPHG, including the prestigious “Aiguille d'Or” Grand Prix best-in-show award. The GPHG awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on 9 November 2023 at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva.

Every year, prior to the awards ceremony, the nominated watches are exhibited to international audiences, comprising enthusiasts and connoisseurs, via a series of exhibitions, organised in collaboration with local partners. These exhibitions include talks, discussions, workshops as well as other public and private events, helping contribute to the promotion of watchmaking culture across the globe. The dates for this world tour of exhibitions are as follows: Macao on 25 and 26 September; Hong Kong from 28 September to 1 October as part of the new Timeless Watch Week; in Kuala Lumpur from 4 to 8 October in partnership with The Hour Glass; in New York from 18 to 22 October with Watches of Switzerland; and, finally, in Geneva from 25 October to 12 November at the Musée Rath, in partnership with the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire (MAH).

The GPHG prize-winners will be determined by a 30-person jury that will meet behind closed doors a few days prior to the ceremony, along with a second vote by the Academy. Following the ceremony, the winning timepieces will be presented from 15 to 20 November 2023 as part of the Dubai Watch Week, then at the Kunsthaus in Zurich from 1 to 3 December in partnership with Kaleido Private Bank.
