Sustainable Innovation: Ulysse Nardin's Latest Diver and Blast Models Revealed at Watches and Wonders 2025

Sustainability has become the cornerstone of Ulysse Nardin's modern identity, reflecting the brand’s deep-rooted connection to the sea and its commitment to preserving the marine environment. As a pioneer in marine chronometry, Ulysse Nardin recognizes the urgent need to protect the oceans. In recent years, the brand has taken bold strides towards eco-conscious watchmaking, embracing recycled materials, reducing its environmental footprint, and supporting ocean conservation efforts, all the while maintaining the precision and craftsmanship it is renowned for. At the ongoing Watches and Wonders, Ulysse Nardin has unveiled three new novelties, namely Diver [NET VENDÉE GLOBE], Diver [AIR], and Blast [AMOUREUX PEINTRE].

DIVER [NET VENDÉE GLOBE]

This 44 mm, 300-piece, limited-edition timepiece comes in two strap options: Ref. 1183-170LE-2A-VG/0B has a red strap and Ref.  1183-170LE-2A-VG/0A has a grey one. The case, case flanks, and lugs are made of 95% recycled steel container and NyloFoil (recycled fishing nets and upcycled carbon fibre), and the 60-minute unidirectional bezel is created using CarbonFoil (upcycled carbon fibre). The watch’s screw-down crown sits between two crowns.

A tribute to the world’s toughest solo sailing race, the grey sandblasted dial is decorated with a red-and-blue X to echo the official colours of the Vendée Globe. There is a red-and-blue power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. A round date window is integrated into the small seconds indicator at 6 o'clock. The dates are all in blue, except for the 10th, which appears in red to mark the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe and the race departure date of 10 November 2024. The hour markers have got a lume filling.

The Diver NET Vendée Globe is powered by Ulysse Nardin’s UN-118 manufacture movement, an automatic calibre with a 60-hour power reserve. Turning the watch showcases the lightly grey-tinted sapphire crystal caseback that gives a partial view into the Ulysse Nardin manufacture movement’s openworked automatic winding system. It is decorated with a map showing the route of the Vendée Globe and with the words, ‘THE ONLY SOLO UNASSISTED NON-STOP SAILING RACE AROUND THE WORLD’. The NyloFoil caseback surround also indicates the watch’s 300-metre water resistance and the coordinates of the Ulysse Nardin manufacture in Le Locle.

DIVER [AIR]

This 44 mm timepiece (Ref. 3743-170-2A/0A) is perhaps the world's lightest; the mechanical watch's middle case is in 90% recycled titanium (Thyssenkrupp and TiFast), the side parts are Nylo®-Foil (60% recycled fishing nets Nylo® from Fil & Fab and 40% upcycled carbon fibres from CDK technologies), and the concave rotating bezel is crafted from CarbonFoil (100% upcycled carbon fibres from CDK Technologies).

The minimalist skeleton dial has black hour markers and the hour, minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova®. The bridges and mainplate at 3 o'clock are in 90% recycled titanium (Thyssenkrupp and TiFast); an oversized balance wheel and balance spring in silicon can be spotted at 6 o'clock, while an escapement wheel, anchored in upcycled silicon, is seen at 12 o'clock.

Powering the watch is the new self-winding Calibre UN-374 with a 90-hour power reserve. Turning the watch showcases the 90% recycled titanium (Thyssenkrupp and TiFast) skeleton caseback. The Diver [AIR] comes with two interchangeable straps: an orange elastic fabric strap with scratch closing and a white elastic fabric strap with scratch closing. This model has a 300m water resistance.

BLAST [AMOUREUX PEINTRE]

Limited to 29 pieces, this 42 mm model (Ref.  3713-260LE-9A-SEVER/0A) has an anthracite PVD titanium sandblasted case and bezel, keeping in mind fashion designer Amoureuxpeintre’s minimalist vision, sharp geometry. The frosted sapphire skeleton dial has anthracite hands with grey Super-LumiNova. The frosted-ice effect was achieved through an advanced laser technique, while the fumé effect was created using thin metallisation.

Powering the watch is Manufacture skeleton calibre UN-371, a manual winding movement with an oversized oscillator offering a 96-hour power reserve.
