Pink Ribbon, Strong Mission: The New Zenith Chronomaster Sport Watch Unveiled to Fight Breast Cancer

Every year, Women's Health Month, also referred to as Women's Health Awareness Month, is observed in May. It is flagged off each year on Mother's Day (May 8), along with Women's Health Week, and continues throughout the month. Strengthening its fight against breast cancer, Zenith has now released the Chronomaster Sport Pink (Ref. 03.3109.3600/18.M3100), a 500-piece limited-edition chronograph. A portion of the sales will benefit Susan G. Komen, one of the world’s leading breast cancer organisations.

It all happened in 1980, when Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen® organisation and the beginning of a global movement. It started with US$ 200 and a shoebox full of potential donors. Names grew exponentially and in no time it became the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the global fight against breast cancer. To date, the organisation has invested nearly US$ 3.6 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy, and programmes in more than 60 countries. 

The new watch supersedes the May launch of the Chronomaster Original Pink timepiece (Reference: 16.3201.3600/33.M3200). The latest Zenith Chronomaster Sport Pink watch is a quintessential production Chronomaster Sport, housed in a 41 mm stainless steel case, close to being perfect for all wrist sizes. A stainless steel bezel replaces the ceramic one — a first for a steel version as only the gold editions were fitted with material-matched bezels until now. This is further complemented by classic pump-style pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock, a crown at 3 o’clock, and a domed sapphire crystal. 

Another update involves the dial; no tri-colours but a monochromatic pink shade for the dial and the subdials. The base dial features a sunray-brushed pattern while both the hands and the applied markers are rhodium-plated and faceted, partially filled in with Super-LumiNova and black lacquer. It remains otherwise identical to the standard models. A central chronograph hand runs in 10 seconds around the dial, thus capable of precisely displaying the 1/10th of a second.

There is a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, along with a 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, a 60-second counter at 3 o'clock, and a date window at 4:30. Under the caseback, secured with four screws, is the innovative Calibre El Primero 3600, with an upgraded power reserve of up to 60 hours and a 5Hz frequency. This Chronomaster Sport Pink also comes with a new star-shaped rotor. The limited-edition timepiece is worn on a three-link stainless steel bracelet, closed by a folding clasp.
