Oris Releases New Aquis Date with a Longer Power Reserve

Oris has always been known for creating reliable timepieces that don’t burn a hole in our pocket. With a formidable repertoire of watches, this Hölstein-based timepiece maker offers a whole range of horological marvels, from diver’s watches to aviation pieces. Oris has now added new models to its Aquis Date collection. The latest timepieces aren’t too different from the ones launched in 2022 as part of the collection. But more on that later.  

In 1904, Paul Cattin and Georges Christian purchased the Lohner & Co watch factory, which was closed down. In the same year, after entering into a contract with the mayor of Hölstein, they created a new brand called Oris. By 1965, Oris had launched its first state-of-the-art diver’s watch, featuring a unidirectional rotating bezel, along with a timer scale, bold, luminescent numerals and 100-metre water resistance.

Like their 2022 counterparts, the latest Oris Aquis Date watches come in 36.5 mm stainless steel cases, each with a unidirectional 60-minute rotating bezel. This size makes it a perfect unisex watch, even for wearers with thinner wrists. Each of the new watches, like its predecessor, has a blue, green or pink mother-of-pearl dial and a date window at 6 o'clock. Each dial gets luminescent hour and minute hands, trapezoidal hour markers and a ‘lollipop’ seconds hand with a lume-filled dot. There is a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock with protection.

What the brand has done here is that it took the Oris 733 automatic movement of the outgoing models and increased the power reserve from 38 hours to 41 hours. This movement is based on the Sellita caliber SW200-1 movement. Turning each new Oris Aquis Date watch over showcases the skeleton caseback with a stainless steel oscillating weight. The watches also come with dial-matching rubber straps with the option of stainless steel bracelets with folding clasps.
