LVMH Watch Week 2024: TAG Heuer Kicks off the Year with New Additions to Four Lines
As the LVMH Watch Week 2024 begins in Miami, watch brands under the group’s roster are gearing up for big launches. After the recent shake-up at LVMH, TAG Heuer has launched new editions in four lines – TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph, Carrera Chronograph and Tourbillon, Carrera Date Plasma, TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4, and four additional watch faces in its Connected Watches lineup.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph
The brand has introduced a new lineup of TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watches, presented in a brand new size of 34 mm. The roots of this timepiece can be traced back to 1978, when Jack Heuer introduced the Heuer Reference 844, a watch designed for adventure enthusiasts. Like their predecessors, the new 34 mm models come with the key features of the Aquaracer collection: a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, water resistance of up to 200 metres, luminous markings, sapphire crystal and a double safety clasp. The launch features a spectrum of five new dials, each bestowing a distinctive character upon the model concerned.
The everyday line offers two options – first with TAG Heuer’s iconic Aquaracer Polar Blue dial and the second one with the brand’s signature blue dial. The latter boasts the signature Solargraph elements, including the distinctive polar blue accents on the second hand, dial markings, and a minute track.
The brand has also introduced mother-of-pearl dials, a first for the Solargraph series. To harness solar energy, Solargraph technology demands semi-transparency and to meet these requirements, the brand adapted mother-of-pearl to ensure visibility while allowing light to pass through. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph series is equipped with a solar quartz movement, offering time, date, and second-hand functionalities. To develop this movement, called Calibre TH50-01, TAG Heuer partnered with the Manufacture La Joux-Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph and Tourbillon
The brand has also released TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, inspired by the iconic DATO layout, adding a version with the tourbillon movement. Blending the iconic 2023 Glassbox design with a striking teal green monochrome look, the pieces pay tribute to TAG Heuer’s rich history. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is crafted from steel and enhanced with rhodium-plated indexes and hands, complemented by a teal green azuré mono subdial at 3 o’clock. The watch features an open caseback that showcases the brand’s in-house movement, Heuer 02, listed as TH20-07, with an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon is an interesting addition to the Carrera collection. An elegant teal green circular brushed dial indeed creates a bold statement. A tourbillon cage is at the heart of this timepiece, placed at 6 o’clock, encased within a glass frame. Powering the timepiece is Heuer 02 – TH20-09 – a movement crafted by Carole Forestier-Kasapi, TAG Heuer”s Movements Director, and the Swiss watchmaker’s technical teams. The teal green dials pay homage to motorsport history, particularly the vintage green shades of the racing cars during the thrilling era of national colour racing from the 20s to the 60s.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde
The TAG Heuer Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde with yellow diamonds pushes boundaries as it is adorned with 4.8 carats of lab-grown diamonds, including 1.4 carats of stunning yellow Diamant d’Avant-Garde. Marking the second colour, created by the watchmaker, this launch builds upon the success of its predecessor, TAG Heuer Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde with pink diamonds, which created a buzz at Watches and Wonders in 2023. At the heart of this avant-garde creation is the Maison’s revolutionary Plasma technology, which enables the delicate and sensitive growth of lab-grown diamonds. The watch is crafted in white gold with a 36 mm case. Its signature diamond crown is a single, 1.3-carat, yellow lab-grown diamond, representing a marvel of gem-cutting craftsmanship.
TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4
TAG Heuer has also introduced its latest addition to the 45 mm E4 line, TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4, in a stunning shade of green. The brand has been at the forefront of connected watchmaking since 2015 with the launch of its first TAG Heuer Connected Watch. These watches combine traditional timepieces with a digital experience designed for high performance. This timepiece features a robust 45 mm steel case. The striking green ceramic polished bezel perfectly complements the green rubber strap.
Watch Faces for Connected Watches
Four distinct watch faces have made their debut during the LVMH Watch Week – TAG Heuer Carrera, TAG Heuer Aquaracer, and TAG Heuer Formula 1.
The brand explores a unisex, vibrant aesthetic, offering an interesting array of dial colours — teal green, black, green gold, and blue for the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, and teal green, blue, and black for the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon, while retaining the classic complication layout.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer collection features the Solargraph watch face – a dynamic design that adapts to ambient light intensity, offering a spectrum of colours, from black to white, that echoes the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph technology. Users will witness a visual transformation, based on environmental light, providing a personalised and immersive experience so that the watch face can be highly visible in any circumstance.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch face brings the spirit of racing to the Connected watch. Replicating the quartz chronograph counterparts with red, yellow, and green colour schemes, the watch face offers a perfect blend of tradition and innovation that Formula 1 enthusiasts will definitely appreciate.
