Jaipur Watch Company Debuts its Stunning Women’s Jewellery Timepiece Collection

Indian micro-luxury timepiece brand Jaipur Watch Company recently debuted its Brides of Jaipur line at a spectacular, wedding-themed event, hosted at the Sawai Man Mahal of the Pink City’s Rambagh Palace.

The collection showcases intricately crafted women’s jewellery watches that draw inspiration from Rajasthan’s rich jewellery traditions and centuries-old craftsmanship.

Actor Malaika Arora, a Friend of Jaipur Watch Company, stars in a special campaign for the Brides of Jaipur collection.

The watches were on display at an immersive event where guests were treated to a slice of Jaipur’s vibrant culture, including its music, wedding customs, and cuisine. The presentations delivered by Gaurav Mehta, Founder of Jaipur Watch Company, and Archana Surana, design educator, and Founder and Director of the ARCH College of Design and Business, Jaipur, offered valuable insights into how the city’s architecture and artisanal heritage had shaped its jewellery traditions.

Praising the painstaking work undertaken by Mehta and his team to create the Brides of Jaipur collection, actor Malaika Arora, a Friend of Jaipur Watch Company, said, “This collection draws inspiration from Jaipur’s architectural marvels, reflected in the palaces and havelis as well as its heritage of jewellery craftsmanship,” she said in a video message at the launch. “You will love it, as much as I do.”

Golden Embrace model from the Brides of Jaipur collection

The Brides of Jaipur watches offer a modern take on the Indian tradition of gifting brides pieces of jewellery on their wedding day; these bejewelled timepieces draw heavily on such jewellery craftsmanship traditions as filigree, embossing, enamelling, and latkans. Every piece in the collection beautifully embodies the elegance and artistry that define Jaipur’s jewellery heritage.

A Closer Look at the Brides of Jaipur Collection

The stunning pieces reflect Jaipur’s architectural magnificence as well as its bridal heritage. Needless to say, they are more than just watches; they are a work of art that captures the essence of a regal era. To begin with, the watch collection is adorned with intricate patterns reminiscent of the jaali work found in the City Palace, royal residence and former administrative headquarters of the rulers of the Jaipur State, the construction of which began after the establishment of the city of Jaipur under the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727.

The City Palace is famous for its exquisite jaali work or intricate lattice screens, carved out of marble or sandstone, that serve both aesthetic and functional purposes, blending artistry with practical considerations like ventilation and privacy. The jaali work at the City Palace is particularly noteworthy for its delicate patterns, which often feature geometric designs, floral motifs, and interlacing arabesques. You’d find echoes of this jaali work on some of the watch faces.

Other watch faces boast delicate filigree details, echoing the ornate motifs seen in the historic Hawa Mahal and other architectural landmarks of Jaipur. Each curve and line pays homage to the city’s architectural marvels. The Blossom Radiance model showcases an engraved case while Golden Embrace features an intricate jaali pattern embossed on the strap. The Timeless Mirage model is a true classic, merging various jewellery traditions with elements like mother-of-pearl, enamelling, floral patterns on the strap, and a half-bead design. The Regal Majesty reference is adorned with a beautiful latkan, inspired by the jaali pattern. From mehendi designs to Pichwai art motifs to the latkans found on the bridal bracelets, this collection is an ode to Rajasthan’s rich wedding jewellery and artistic traditions.

Furthermore, the vibrant hues of rubies and emeralds adorning the watches echo the rich colours of bridal lehengas, while the gold accents capture the timeless elegance of kundan and meenakari craftsmanship.
