Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar

Jaeger-LeCoultre has just unveiled the Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar, steeped in history. It dates back to the 1930s when it was first introduced as a polo watch. The reversible design enabled the watch to be flipped over and protected from the game's impact. This feature rapidly became the brand's trademark and the Reverso has remained a staple of the Jaeger-LeCoultre collection ever since.

However, the JLC Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar is more than a one-trick pony. The watch has a rectangular casing that measures 49.4 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm in thickness. It has two unique complications: the triple calendar and the Duoface. It offers vintage charm on the front (recto) and a contemporary look on the back (verso).

Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar in Steel 

The Steel Model (Ref: Q3918420) has a grained recto dial housed in a stainless steel case; it includes the functions (hours, minutes, day, date, month and moon phases) that hark back to the 1931 vintage aesthetic. The dial sports iconic gadroons and dauphine hands. Day and month dominate attention at 12 o'clock and time can be easily followed at a glance, thanks to the appliqued steel hour markings that line the exterior edge of the chemin-de-fer minuterie. 

The moon phase at 6 o'clock has a red, crescent-shaped tip. On the flip side, discover the blue, sunray-brushed verso dial, featuring an hour-and-minute disc for a second time zone. Cleverly concealed at the 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions is a day-night indicator. The strap can be switched out to fit a person's particular taste. It comes in the blue Casa Fagliano collection calf as well as a second blue canvas and calf collection. A stainless steel double folding clasp measuring 20mm broad holds the watch in place.

Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar in Gold

The 18 ct pink gold case of the Pink Gold model (REF. Q3912530) lends the watch a gorgeous tint. The pink gold dauphine hands and appliqued hour markers are featured on the recto dial's silvered grey, sunray-brushed finish. The moon-phase display at 6 o'clock combines celestial and solar time, while the triple calendar, which includes day, date, and month indicators, is the focal point of the dial. 

Another eye-catching feature of the watch is the contrast of the charcoal grey, sunray-brushed verso dial with the pink gold hands and day/night indication (located at 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock respectively). This watch, inspired by Art Deco, is ideal for any contemporary traveller, who prefers old-world charm. It comes with a brown calf-leather strap in the distinctive style of Casa Fagliano with a pink gold, 20 mm wide pin buckle and a bi-material strap in leather and fabric in a grey hue.

Built to Last 

But don't let the good looks fool you – these watches are built to last. Both are powered by the reliable, precise, manually wound, in-house Calibre 853 movement with a 42-hour power reserve and traditional Haute Horlogerie details, such as chamfered edges, countersunk jewels, mirror-polished screws and Geneva Stripes-decorated bridges. The watch offers water resistance of up to 30 m. 

A giant stride forward for the company came with the introduction of the Duoface model in the 1990s. The JLC Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar is a real feat that continues this legacy.
