Jaeger-LeCoultre Adds a New Grey-Blue Sunray Dial Variant to its Master Ultra Thin Collection

Dress watches are an important category and therefore, most watchmakers incorporate them into their collections. These watches are usually designed to be elegant, unobtrusive, and suited for formal occasions. In other words, they have a clean display and complications are kept to a minimum. What’s more, dress watches often use leather straps instead of metal bracelets for a polished appearance. They are also modestly sized (36 mm-40 mm) to maintain a minimalist design. Reimagining such quintessential characteristics of a dress watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) has just unveiled its new Master Ultra Thin (Ref. Q1238480) variant with a new grey-blue sunray dial. It draws inspiration from the Maison's ultra thin watches of the early 1900s.

A grey-blue sunray watch face often has a metallic surface with a gradient effect radiating away from the centre, resulting in a dynamic play of light. This polish adds depth to the dial while also providing a slight texture. The grey and blue tones of the dial can vary depending on light, ensuring a clean and adaptable look.

The 39 mm stainless steel JLC Master Ultra Thin watch has a polished bezel with a steel crown at 3 o’clock. Expect clean lines, polished surfaces, and long, curving lugs. The design of the newly created grey-blue sunray dial of the Master Ultra Thin Date model is a finely judged exercise in symmetry and balance. The date display at 6 o’clock boasts a dial colour-matching background and a white numeral.

The shape of each of the elongated trapezoid hour markers is echoed by the dauphine hour, minute hands, one facet  of which is satin-brushed and the other polished. Calibre 899 is visible via the Master Ultra Thin Date's transparent sapphire caseback that has an oscillating weight; it has fine ornamental details, such as Côtes de Genève, bevelling, and blue screws. It is designed, manufactured, and assembled in-house at Jaeger-LeCoultre's Manufacture in Le Sentier and has a power reserve of 38 hours.

The Master Ultra Thin Date model, like every other Jaeger-LeCoultre eligible model, has successfully passed all certification tests as part of the brand’s development project through its 1000-hour testing protocol. The new watch is presented on a black alligator strap which, along with its folding buckle, can be easily interchanged as per the wearer’s desire.
