In the Spirit of Olympic Competition: Presenting the New Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition from Omega

Paris 2024 Olympics will feature a wide array of sporting events, including new additions such as surfing, skateboarding, and climbing. Paris 2024 aims to be the most sustainable Olympics ever, with initiatives launched to minimise carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly practices. The Games will celebrate French culture, with a strong emphasis on art, music, and cuisine, enhancing the overall experience for both athletes and spectators. But, of course, all eyes will be on medal winners.

As the official timekeeper of the Games since 1932, Omega has just released two dedicated gaming watches, namely Seamaster Diver 300M Paris 2024 and Chronoscope Paris 2024. A third novelty has also been revealed: Omega Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition (Ref. 522.92.39.21.99.001), a tribute to the gold, silver, and bronze medals that stand for the competitive spirit of the Games.

The new timepiece draws inspiration from the distinctive design of a classic Omega timepiece from 1939, which housed the renowned 30T manual-winding small seconds calibre. The 39 mm brushed case is made of Omega's unique Bronze Gold (the watchmaker’s own alloy, enriched with 37.5% gold, hallmarked as 9K, as well as palladium and silver); it has a polished bezel and the classic OMEGA logo is embossed on the crown.

Behind the domed sapphire crystal, the dial is composed of Ag 925 silver, with a "Clous de Paris" pattern in the centre and a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock. The minute track and the subdial minute track include a circular brushed texture, as does the dark grey antique OMEGA logo. The 18K Sedna™ Gold hands have a PVD Bronze Gold finish. The dial also has Arabic numerals for 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, and 9 o’clock. The material (Bronze Gold) is famous for its soft pink hue and incomparable corrosion resistance, without verdigris-oxidation. This model does not have any complications.

The watch is both a Chronometer and a Master Chronometer, which means that it is certified by both COSC and METAS. Powering the watch is Calibre Omega 8926, a manual winding movement with a 72-hour power reserve. The movement has a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring and two barrels mounted in series. The rhodium-plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque adds to its aesthetic appeal.

Turning the watch over showcases the engraving "BG 859", referencing both Bronze Gold and the form of the case. This corresponds to the "CK 859" and "OT 859" references used in previous technical sheets. There is also a stamped and frosted medallion featuring a mirror-polished Paris 2024 emblem with the classic Olympic rings. The watch is finished on a brown calf-skin leather strap, featuring a sandblasted Bronze Gold buckle with a polished vintage OMEGA logo in positive relief. Wearers will receive this timepiece in a special presentation box.
