HAUTLENCE Presents VAGABONDE X Black Badger At Watches And Wonders: A Collab Timepiece to Watch Out For
Independent watchmaker Hautlence is making headlines with its series of launches at the ongoing Watches and Wonders, Geneva. After unveiling its latest Linear Series 2, Hautlence has collaborated with Black Badger to release its latest VAGABONDE X Black Badger (Ref.AB30-ST01), limited to just 28 pieces. James Thompson a.ka. Black Badger specialises in utilising advanced materials in new, and innovative ways. He has collaborated with various timepiece makers in the past showing his technical know-how
The latest watch takes charge from last year's Vagabonde Series 4 with minute changes. Housed in the same 43mm stainless steel, TV shaped case, the watch maintains the same B30 self-winding manufacturing movement with a power reserve of three days, developed in association with H. Moser & Cie.
So how does the wearer read the time on this timepiece? Look not anywhere else, we have got the solution. Taking the concept of Wandering Hours, the hour ring rotates around the central staff that turns on its own axis, thus marking the passing hours. The minutes disc keeps turning, and the time is read via the hour numeral and the minute it points to via a small indicator on it. A fine reinterpretation of the wandering hours model with four hands. The base dial also includes an elevated sapphire minute dial and a central disc with rotating hours on matte black discs.
This material – a Super-LumiNova®-filled ceramic composite – was created in HAUTLENCE's signature orange colour. Like an explosion of light in different spectra, the minute indices are also in Badgerite®, while the hour numerals are enhanced with Super-LumiNova®.
At 3 o’clock, the watch gets a polished steel crown with a blue rubber ring which is engraved with the Hautlence logo. Turning the watch reveals a sapphire crystal caseback engraved with 'Hautlence', ‘Horlogerie Suisse’ and an bidirectional oscillating weight. The watch sits on a blue rubber strap with a stainless steel clasp, and has a water resistance of 100 metres.
