Goal of Precision: The New Jacob & Co. Epic X Tourbillon Watch Celebrates FC Barcelona’s 125th Anniversary

Both football and watchmaking share a passion for precision, timing, and craftsmanship. It's no surprise then that many luxury watch brands partner with football clubs and players from time to time, celebrating the shared dedication to accuracy and perfection. Honouring this association, Jacob & Co. has released its 125-piece limited-edition Epic X Tourbillon FC Barcelona (Ref. EX112.43.AB.AA.ABRUA) watch, marking the 125th anniversary of the Catalonia club.

FC Barcelona or Barça is one of the greatest football clubs in the world. Founded in 1899, the club has a rich history and is renowned for its unique philosophy, més que un club (more than a club). The club has won numerous domestic and international titles, including multiple La Liga (27) and UEFA Champions League (5) titles. Spotify Camp Nou has been FC Barcelona's home since its official opening on September 24, 1957. The stadium has a maximum height of 48 metres and covers an area of 55,000 square metres (250 metres long and 220 metres broad). According to UEFA regulations, the playing space has been reduced to 105 metres x 68 metres.

Jacob & Co.’s Epic X collection is, of course, no stranger to football. The jeweller-cum-timepiece maker created the EPIC X CR7 for Cristiano Ronaldo in rose gold and stainless steel, with and without baguette diamonds. Epic X Tourbillon FC Barcelona is the first timepiece made with the official FC Barcelona emblem and branding features. The design incorporates FC Barcelona's signature colours of red, yellow, and blue. 

The club's crest is prominently displayed on the dial as it covers the mainspring barrel, along with the inscriptions, FC Barcelona and 1899 125 Years 2024, which commemorate this significant milestone in the club's history on the vertical bridges. The 44 mm timepiece has an 18 ct rose gold case, and the crown is protected by shoulders and a red rubber ring. At 12 o’clock, the skeleton dial has the FCB crest and the one-minute tourbillon can be spotted at 6 o’clock. 

Gravity reduces the accuracy of a movement. The tourbillon compensates for this intrinsic flaw by keeping its escapement spinning at all times. During the process, it transforms itself into a spinning, intriguing, and prestigious product. The inner chapter ring that has the 60-minute track is crafted from red anodised aluminium, while the blue hour and minute hands are baton-shaped, skeletonised, and filled with Super-LumiNova.

The watch is powered by Caliber JCAM46, a manual winding movement with a 72-hour power reserve. Turning the watch over showcases a distinctive Barça print on the caseback. The watch is finished on a blue honeycomb rubber strap with an 18 ct rose gold pin buckle.
