Five Best Everyday Watches Launched in 2024

An everyday watch would mean different things for different people. It all depends on one’s personal taste, profession, and even the price point. Broadly speaking, an everyday watch is a versatile piece that can withstand daily wear and tear; it can also be easily paired with both casual and formal outfits. Attributes like high legibility and superior water resistance also add to a timepiece’s wearability.

To help you choose your daily wrist companion, GMT India has curated a list of the best everyday watches unveiled in 2024 so far.

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph

TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph

Launched at Watches & Wonders (W&W) 2024, this version draws inspiration from the Heuer Ref. 7753 SN from the late 1960s. The latest TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph (Ref. CBS2216.BA0041) offers a contemporary take on the 1963 version, breathing new life into the design, wherein the panda dial is paired with Glassbox construction. Legibility is at the heart of the design as well, with black azuré subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, which offer contrast with the silver sunray-brushed dial, creating the signature bi-compax panda look. Sized at a wearable 39 mm, the steel case houses the in-house chronograph movement, Heuer 02 (Ref. TH20-00), which features a bi-directional winding, a new shield-shaped rotor, and an impressive 80-hour power reserve.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

At W&W 2024, Rolex presented new versions of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 with meticulously-crafted dials. The Day-Date in a 40 mm case is created from Rolex’s Everose Gold. The ombré dial’s slate hue slowly merges with deep black. The faceted Roman numerals and index hour markers in 18 ct pink gold add a refined visual contrast, a design continuation from the 1980s. The intricate process involves skilled application of black lacquer for a gradient effect.

H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green

H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green

At this year’s W&W, H. Moser & Cie. re-introduced the all-terrain sporty-chic automatic watch, now in an ultra-wearable 40 mm case size. This re-release also marks the return of the beloved Cosmic Green fumé dial. While its rugged spirit remains faithful to its bigger counterpart, the Pioneer Centre Seconds Cosmic Green boasts a sleeker silhouette. The clean dial and an understated look make this an ideal everyday watch.

Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT ‘Coke’

Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT ‘Coke’

Tudor’s latest edition of the Black Bay 58 GMT, launched at Watches & Wonders earlier this year, was quite a hit among collectors. The modern 39 mm stainless steel case is endowed with polished and satin finishes. The timepiece features a 24-hour bi-directional rotatable bezel in stainless steel, with a black and burgundy anodised aluminium insert for the day-night functionality. The model has been nicknamed Coke, given the colour of its bezel. The rubber strap offers utmost comfort to the wearer; it’s suitable for everyday activities.

IWC Portugieser Automatic 40

IWC Portugieser Automatic 40

The Portugieser Automatic was first introduced to the collection in 2020; at W&W 2024, IWC presented the Portugieser Automatic 40 in an elegant 18 ct white gold case. The timepiece embodies the essence of the Portugieser design with a more compact case size of 40 mm, making it comfortable for wearers. This model has a Horizon Blue dial, accentuated with rhodium-plated hands and appliques. The dial has a clean design, featuring the small seconds at 6 o’clock; there’s no date window. It is paired with a gradient light-blue calfskin strap from Santoni, sporting a 18-carat white gold pin buckle. A perfect day-to-night watch.
