Favre Leuba’s Most Versatile Diver Gains a Two-Tone Edition

The Deep Raider Day Date has become the most versatile watch in Favre Leuba’s revived dive collection, a 300-metre diver built to earn its place on the wrist every day of the week. Until now it has been an all-steel affair. The latest edition changes that, arriving in a two-tone finish whose yellow-gold PVD accents warm the diver’s familiar tool-watch language into something you might just as easily wear to dinner.

‍

The case is 316L stainless steel, 40mm across and 12.5mm thick, water-resistant to 300 metres and finished in a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. What sets this edition apart is the gold. Applied through a physical vapour deposition process, the yellow-gold treatment lands on the crown and bezel, and on the central links of the integrated bracelet, lending the watch a glow the all-steel version never reaches for. The unidirectional bezel carries a ceramic insert with a 60-minute dive scale, its markers gold-finished to match. The bracelet keeps Favre Leuba’s tool-free interchangeability, so the two-tone steel can give way to any strap from the Deep Raider Renaissance line in seconds.

‍

The dials come three ways: a solid black, and blue and green versions that fade to darker tones at the edges, the gradient lending real depth to the face. Gold-treated hands pick up the case detailing, as does the Favre Leuba hourglass at six o’clock. Underneath sits a sandwich construction with a full lume base layer, so legibility holds when the light drops. The elongated indexes and the day-date window at three o'clock carry over from the earlier edition.

‍

‍

Inside is the self-winding FLD05 calibre, based on the Sellita SW-220-1, running at 4Hz with a 38-hour reserve and 26 jewels. Turn the crown clockwise to set the date, anticlockwise for the day, which can be displayed in English or German, a preference the movement remembers thereafter.

‍

The Deep Raider name reaches back to 1964 and the original Deep Blue, the watch that laid the groundwork for the brand’s modern divers before its 2024 revival. This two-tone Day Date is the latest chapter in that story.
