Czapek Presents Two New Antarctique Timepieces in Collaboration with Mansour Jewellers at DWW 2023

Watchmakers have been exploring various materials and colours to create timepieces that are not just accurate but also aesthetically appealing, especially when it comes to the face of the watch — the dial. Watchmakers have also been experimenting with various materials, such as high-tech ceramics, carbon composites, and exotic metals, to create dials that not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the timepiece but also offer durability and resistance to wear and tear.

As far as colours are concerned, there has been a departure from the classic white, black, and silver dials. Watchmakers are now exploring bold and vibrant hues as well as unique textures and finishes. This trend allows for more personalisation and caters to diverse consumer preferences. Moreover, advancements in technology and manufacturing techniques have facilitated the use of luminescent materials and innovative coatings to enhance the visibility of watch dials in various lighting conditions.

To showcase its own experimentations at Dubai Watch Week 2023, Czapek has presented two new limited-edition timepieces, based on its successful Antarctique sports watch collection, in partnership with Mansour Jewellers.

Here’s what can be expected from the references.

Czapek Antarctique Royal Onyx

Limited to only 18 pieces, this time-only watch comes in a 40.5 mm stainless case, sporting lugs and a crown at 3 o’clock. The Royal Onyx is differentiated by its deep black onyx dial, lit up by blue sapphire baguette hour markers. With no complications, this timepiece gets a blue-tipped central second hand and steel skeletonised hour and minute hands. The deep inky-black tone serves as a perfect backdrop for the hands and indices, ensuring great legibility.

Czapek Antarctique Desert Rose

Limited to only 25 pieces, this model also gets a 40.5 mm stainless steel case, lugs, and a crown at 3 o’clock. Differentiating this model is the sandblasted salmon dial with an Oriental 12 o’clock. The model gets rhodium-plated steel hour markers with luminescent coating, along with hour, minute hands. There is also a steel second hand with a red tip. At 6 o’clock is a date window with Indian numerals.

Common to both watches is the self-winding calibre SXH5 with a 60-hour power reserve. Each sapphire skeleton caseback showcases a micro rotor, a recycled platinum mass. Both Antarctique variants are finished on integrated stainless steel bracelets with the Czapek-exclusive ‘Easy Release’ system and micro-adjustment device, and additional calf leather or rubber straps.
