Breitling Showcases the New Top Time Deus and Triumph Watches Celebrating the Motorcycle Subculture
Ask any biker why he or she is passionate about a motorcycle, and the person is likely to tell you that the lean and mean machine stands for freedom, adventure and self-expression. A watch enthusiast will wax lyrical about a timepiece in the same way. And when both worlds join hands, you get high-performance watches, such as Breitling’s latest offerings, namely Top Time B01 Deus and B01 Triumph sporting an all-new calibre. These are essentially based on the past collaborations (limited edition) among the brands concerned.
Breitling unveiled its Top Time collection in 1964, even though it presented the initial layouts in 1962. The chronographs had simple, elegant lines and were inspired by the subculture of racers. The size fitted both men and women.
Top Time B01 Triumph
Last year, Breitling collaborated with Triumph Motorcycles for the first time to create the Top Time Triumph watch and a special Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition motorcycle, limited to 270 pieces.
The latest 41 mm stainless steel Top Time Triumph (Ref. AB01764A1C1X1 or AB01764A1C1A1) watches get the same iced-blue dials as the models that were released last year. This colour appeared in two other references earlier — a blue Triumph Thunderbird 6T from 1951 and a rare blue dial Ref. 815 from the 1970s. The new Breitling B01 Triumph watch gets a brushed finish in a Bow motif, nicknamed 'Zorro dial'. It features a Triumph logo at 6 o’clock, a Breitling Top Time logo at 12 o’clock, a 60-second counter at 9 o’clock, and a 30-minute window at 3 o’clock.
The Breitling Top Time Triumph watch also gets oversized pushers for easy control of the chronograph and reset functions, and a tachymeter scale with a black chapter ring ensuring clear reading of the speed ratings. The watch has a lightning bolt-shaped chronograph hour, minute hand with Super-LumiNova®, and a white-toned central second hand. The 41 mm watch is now powered by Breitling Caliber 01 self-winding mechanical movement with a power reserve of 70 hours. Turning the watch over reveals the snapped caseback, with the famous Triumph engine motif. Completing the watch is a black calfskin leather strap with a stainless steel buckle and a folding clasp or a stainless steel mesh bracelet with a butterfly clasp.
Top Time B01 Deus
Last year, Breitling unveiled its Top Time Deus Chronograph in collaboration with Deus Ex Machina, an Australian custom motorcycle company established in 2006. The 2022 model came with a sky-blue tone for the tachymeter scale that for some segments appeared in red and orange. The two subdials on the white dial had blue backgrounds. The watch was powered by Breitling Caliber 23 with 48 hours of power reserve.
The new 41 mm variant (Ref. AB01765A1B1X1 or AB01765A1B1A1) is crafted from stainless steel and has thinner lugs and a fixed bezel. This time, it gets a white tachymeter scale with a red and orange segment. The Breitling B01 Deus watch also gets the classic black-and-white ‘Reverse Panda’ dial. There is a tripartite subdial layout for this model — a 60-seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. The three subdials have white backgrounds and black numerals.
The watch gets a lightning bolt-shaped chronograph hour and minute hand, and a red central second hand. Powering this model is Breitling Caliber 01 self-winding mechanical movement, delivering a power reserve of 70 hours. Turning the watch over showcases a sapphire exhibition caseback with the Deus logo embossed on the oscillating weight. The watch is finished on a black calfskin leather strap with a folding buckle or a stainless steel mesh bracelet with a butterfly clasp.
