Breitling Celebrates the Spirit of Endurance with Two New IRONMAN Limited Edition Watches
Since its inception in 1978, the IRONMAN triathlon has been considered one of the toughest and most rewarding sporting events in the world. For the endurance championship’s 2023 edition, luxury timepiece maker Breitling has introduced two new limited-edition, IRONMAN-branded versions of its ultralight sports watch, limited to 250 pieces each. These include the Endurance Pro IRONMAN® 70.3 World Championship (Ref. X823105C1M1S1) and the Endurance Pro IRONMAN® World Championship (Ref. E823103A1M1S1). In fact, since 2021, Breitling has been teaming up with IRONMAN, as its official luxury watch partner, to create timepieces that match the credentials of the excruciating race.
IRONMAN includes a series of racing and sporting events, including the 2.4 mile (3.86 km) swim, the 112 mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride, and the 26.2 mile (42.2 km) run. The IRONMAN Group runs an array of events that includes the IRONMAN® Triathlon Series, the IRONMAN® 70.3® Triathlon Series, the 5150™ Triathlon Series, the Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series, the IRONKIDS®, and the World Triathlon Championship Series. Other premier running events include the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon™ and City2Surf®; the Group also hosts mountain bike races, such as the Absa Cape Epic®, and road cycling events, including the Haute Route®.
The latest Breitling IRONMAN watches celebrate the true spirit of the triathlon that tests endurance limits. Ref. X823105C1M1S1 is a 44 mm timepiece crafted from Breitlight®. This material, launched in 2016, is three times lighter than titanium and eight times lighter than stainless steel; it is also non-magnetic and hypoallergenic. Ref. X823105C1M1S1 also comes with an anthracite, bidirectional, compass scale on the bezel; a non-screw-locked, two-gasket crown at 3 o’clock with a turquoise ring; and two chronograph pushers, one at 2 o’clock (which also has a turquoise ring) and the other at 4 o’clock. Lugs are crafted from Breitlight® as well.
What’s more, there is a turquoise pulsometer scale on a black dial with black chronograph counters — a 30-minute counter at 10 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 2 o’clock while the IRONMAN® logo sits at 6 o’clock. The dial also gets a date window at 4:30, Arabic numerals, and a combination of a cathedral-shaped hour hand, a needle-shaped minute hand, and a yellow central chronograph hand, all filled with Super-LumiNova®.
The next watch in this collection is Ref. E823103A1M1S1, a 44 mm timepiece crafted from titanium. It comes with an anthracite bidirectional, compass scale on the bezel; a non-screw-locked, two-gasket crown at 3 o’clock with a blue ring; and two chronograph pushers, one at 2 o’clock (with a blue ring) and the other at 4 o’clock (with a black ring). The lugs of this model are made of Breitlight® as well.
This particular Breitling IRONMAN watch gets a blue pulsometer scale on an anthracite dial with black chronograph counters — a 30-minute counter at 10 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 2 o’clock while the IRONMAN® logo can be spotted at 6 o’clock. The date window is at 4:30 and this model too has Arabic numerals and a combination of a cathedral-shaped hour hand, a needle-shaped minute hand, and a red central chronograph hand, all featuring Super-LumiNova®.
Powering both watches is the Breitling Caliber 82, a thermocompensated SuperQuartzTM movement with a battery life spanning two years. Turning each watch over showcases the non-screw-locked, two-gasket caseback with the engraving of ‘One of 250’ and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship logo. The watches are finished on turquoise IRONMAN® rubber straps or blue IRONMAN® rubber straps with Breitlight® double tang-type buckles, depending on the material a wearer opts for.
