Bell & Ross Presents Three New Round-within-a-Square Timepieces at Watches and Wonders 2023
Founded in 1992 by Bruno Belamich and Carlos Rosillo in Paris, Bell & Ross specialises in Swiss-made watches for professionals, such as divers and pilots. At the just-concluded Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the timepiece maker unveiled three new timepieces — a GMT model, a diver’s watch and a rose gold variant, maintaining the signature roundness within square cases. In other words, all three are ‘round within a square’ timepieces.
Here are the details of the new Bell & Ross collection.
BR 03-93 GMT Blue
The new BR 03-93 GMT Blue (Ref. BR0393-BLU-ST/SCA) is an instrument watch with a dual-time zone (GMT) functionality. Drawing inspiration from aircraft cockpits, the timepiece comes in a two-tone colour combination with a grey case, a grey-blue 24-hour bidirectional rotating bezel and a blue sunray dial.
The 42 mm stainless steel watch gets an anodised aluminium ring with Arabic numerals for 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o'clock, hour markers coated with Super-LumiNova® and a blue date window at 4:30.
The metal skeletonised hands are also coated with Super-LumiNova® with a blue-red arrow for the GMT hand. Automatic, self-winding calibre BR-CAL.303 powers the watch, offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The watch is finished on a blue calfskin leather and ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric strap with a satin-polished steel buckle.
BR 03-92 Diver White Bronze
With 300-metre water resistance, the watch can be described as a quintessential diver’s watch that comes in a bronze case with four visible screws. This 999-piece limited-edition 42 mm bronze-case watch (Ref. BR0392-D-WH-BR/SCA) has a 60-minute unidirectional rotating solid bronze bezel, complete with an anodised aluminium ring.
The pearl white dial has rose gold-plated hour markers with Super-LumiNova®, a date window at 4:30 and gold-plated metal skeletonised hour, minute and seconds hands with Super-LumiNova®.
The screw-down crown at 3 o’clock comes with a crown guard. The watch is run by self-winding, automatic calibre BR-CAL.302 with a 38-hour power reserve. Turning the watch over reveals a diver’s helmet-engraved caseback of BR 03-92 in hypoallergenic stainless steel. The watch is finished on a brown calfskin leather and woven black rubber strap with a satin-finished and polished bronze buckle.
BR 05 Green Gold
Seems timepiece makers have started to experiment not only with distinctive colours, but also with unique colour combinations. The BR 05 Green Gold (Ref. BR05A-GN-PG) timepiece comes in a 40 mm 18 ct rose gold case with four visible screws. The green sunray dial gets rose gold Arabic hour markers for its 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o'clock, coated with Super-LumiNova®.
The dial also gets 18 ct rose gold skeletonised hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova® and a date window at 3 o’clock with a screw-down crown, complete with a crown guard.
Powering the watch is BR-CAL.321 with 38 hours of power reserve. Turning the watch over showcases the sapphire caseback with an 18 ct rose gold-plated 360° oscillating weight. The model is finished on a 18ct rose gold bracelet or on a green alligator skin strap with a satin-polished 18 ct rose gold buckle.
All in all, variety seems to be the name of the game, as far as the new Bell & Ross collection is concerned.
