All for a Noble Cause: Only Watch Announces 62 Lots, World Tour Dates for its November Charity Auction

Only Watch, a prestigious charitable event, will host its 10th edition in Palexpo, Geneva, at 2 pm (CET) on November 5. Organised by Christie's, Geneva, the watch auction aims to raise funds for research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and other genetic diseases.

Over 73 watchmakers and brands, including 16 collaborations with renowned artists and legendary watchmakers, are generously supporting this cause. The auction will feature an impressive selection of 62 lots. Prior to the auction, these watches will embark on a global tour, allowing enthusiasts to admire them in person. Bidding can be carried out online through christies.com or over phone.

The Genesis

In 2005, Luc Pettavino founded Only Watch in collaboration with the watch industry. The objective is to promote therapeutic advancements for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that impacts approximately 1 in 3,500 boys. Luc's motivation to launch this endeavour came from his son, Paul, diagnosed with this debilitating condition. The Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, a Monaco-based charitable organisation, which benefits from the Only Watch auctions, has been actively engaged in global research efforts since 2001 under the collective banner of ‘Only Project’. This initiative encompasses crucial discussions, research programmes, and collaborative endeavours among researchers worldwide, fostering exchange of knowledge and expediting groundbreaking discoveries. Moreover, the charity extends financial assistance to numerous research projects, dedicated to attaining and enhancing therapeutic outcomes for DMD.

Past Editions

So far, Only Watch auctions have raised nearly CHF 100 million over nine editions. These funds have supported grants and studies, and accelerated research, now reaching clinical trials. The organisation maintains its non-profit focus, securing funds for future phases. As in previous years, the auction will enjoy the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Before the auction, the watches will be showcased to the public, media, and watch enthusiasts during a promotional tour, starting in Los Angeles on September 6, and ending in Geneva on November 5 this year.
